As already mentioned, Brendan McAvoy is the only son of former partners, James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff. The lovebirds announced their pregnancy on January 26, 2010, and gave birth to their only child in the same year.
We are happy to confirm that James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff are expecting their first child. We have no further comment or information at this time.
Their spokesperson, Rupert Fowler announced their pregnancy.
While talking about their son, Anne revealed how her life had changed for the good ever since he arrived. She said,
I do feel my life’s completely expanded since he arrived. When my baby was born, I felt like somebody had spiked my drink and I suddenly was so full of love that it was a little bit as if I was drugged. I didn’t think that anyone could feel that way.

Even after a year of his birth, his mother couldn’t control her emotions and went on to call his son, “the most beautiful creature in the world.”
I am very lucky. I have known wonderful romantic love in my life but to actually see this little creature and find him to be the most beautiful creature in the world. I know all mothers and fathers feel that way. Yes, he’s just gorgeous.

Named After His Maternal Grandfather
Brendan McAvoy, whose name was only revealed a year after his birth, was named after his maternal grandfather, Brendan Duff who worked as a painter and decorator.
James and Anne didn’t choose to find out the sex of their baby before he was born. They had always thought about having a girl and had more than a dozen girl names lined up.
We thought we were going to have a girl, so we had 15 girls’ names lined up and a little boy popped out.
Duff thought they would give birth to a baby girl.
When Brendan was born, his parents had no idea about boys’ names. This might be the reason why they decided to go with Brendan.
We had no idea and we had hardly any boys’ names. He’s a Brendan and it suits him really, really well.
Anne never thought about a boy’s name.
Marriage and Divorce Issues of His Parents
James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff shared their vow on October 18, 2006, at the idyllic 19th-century Drumtochty Castle in Aberdeenshire. On their big day, around 100 guests were invited but the groom’s father and brother were absent.

The pair first met on the sets of smash-hit Channel 4 drama series, Shameless in 2003 where they played the role of on-screen partners. They fell in love soon after and got married later on.
The pair, however, decided to call it quits after 10 years of marriage. They announced their separation through a joint statement that read,
It is with tremendous sadness that we have come to the decision to divorce. We enter this next phase with continued friendship, love, and respect for one another and the shared focus of caring for our son. We ask that you respect our and, most importantly, our child s privacy during this time.

Though the pair have already divorced, they decided to raise their only son together. They share a house in North London to tend to their child whenever they’re not working. While James moved on with his new partner, Lisa Liberati, Anne is still sorting things out.

The 10-year-old Brendan McAvoy is undoubtedly leading a lavish lifestyle regarding the fact that he’s the only child of millionaire parents.
His father, James McAvoy has an estimated net worth of $17 million while his mother, Anne-Marie Duff holds $7 million.
