Danny Jones Penniman is famous for being the adopted son of Richard Wayne Penniman AKA Little Richard and his ex-wife, Ernestine Harvin.
Born in 1970 to Creola Jones, Danny was raised alongside his nine siblings: three brothers and six sisters. At the age of 14, he was adopted by Richard and became his only child.

Danny Jones Penniman’s Adoption
Danny Jones Penniman says he knew his adoptive dad, Little Richard, since his second grade. The rock and roll singer would occasionally drive up to his mom’s house in South Central Los Angeles.
All the kids would be waiting for him to come over. Whenever he did, he’d have a bag of coins, and he’d throw it up in the air and we scrambled. Oh, man, we got some money!

Richard retired from his rock and roll career for the second time to correct his $1000-a-day drug habit and fully dedicate his life to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. That’s when he met Danny’s mom, a fellow parishioner.
When he started getting really deep back into the church at that time, she was really nice to him. It wasn’t about him being Little Richard or anything like that. Just a brother in Christ.
Richard used to visit his home frequently and became an important person to Danny during his early teenage days especially after his biological father’s death in 1982.
I had six sisters and three brothers, living in a poor neighborhood, doing whatever. My mom asked him: Could he take care of me? Because she didn’t she want me turning out like the rest of my -sisters and brothers, and he agreed to it.
There is no paperwork for the adoption. After agreeing to it, Danny moved in with Richard and was with him for 36 years until his demise in 2020.
Lost His Father in 2020
Danny Jones Penniman lost his father, Little Richard, on May 9, 2020, at the age of 87 at his home in Tullahoma, Tennessee. His father passed away due to bone cancer which was diagnosed two months before his death.
The American singer and musician was buried at Oakwood University Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.
Hernia Operation
The 51-year-old Danny Jones Penniman had a hernia operation during his early years as the adopted son of Little Richard. While remembering his memories, he revealed that his dad always knew he would pretend to be sicker than he was.
“He’s like, ‘Hey, there’s some girl downstairs to meet you.’ So, of course, I rushed down there real quick. They said, ‘Nobody down here to see you, what are you talking about?’ I come back up, and he’s just looking at me, shaking his head. I was like, ‘Wow, he got me once again!’ ”
Did Danny Receive His Dad’s Fortune?
Danny Jones Penniman was the only child of Little Richard. He was the one to take care of the songwriter and musician during his final days. So, there’s no doubt he received most of his father’s fortune after his demise. When he died at 87, he had collected over $40 million worth of net worth.
