Naomi Kay Fleming is famous for being the mother of the civil rights activist and best-selling author, Shaun King.
Fleming was born in Kentucky, USA, in 1958, so it makes her 63 years old as of this writing. She raised three sons as a single mother.
Her son, Shaun King, who is best known for his activism, hasn’t met his biological father, but his birth certificate says he is the son of Jefferey Wayne King.

The 5 feet 4 inches tall Naomi came to fame for being the mother of her middle son, Shaun, who was born on September 17, 1979. Shaun is married to Rai King and shares four kids, Ttaeyonna, Kendi, Savannah, and Ezekiel King, with her.

Death of Her Eldest Son
In September 2018, Naomi Kay Fleming lost her eldest son, Jason King. At the time of his death, Jason was 44 years old. He was born on February 25, 1974, in Versailles, Kentucky.

Following the death of Jason, Shaun took to Medium to officiate about his brother’s demise.

Today we’ve all gathered together to celebrate the life and ministry of Jason King. We mourn not just because we loved him so much, but because we all know that someone who loved us unconditionally no longer walks among us. We had precisely 16,283 days of him on this earth, but somehow it still feels like we were all robbed. That’s because to know Jason was to be sincerely and earnestly loved and supported by him. In a world of toxic masculinity and dangerous bigotry, he exuded a calm compassion and warmth for everyone around him.
He completed his high school graduation from Woodford County High School. Later on, he joined Center College for his graduation in Physics. In 2002, he majored in Christian Education and Youth Ministry from Asbury Theological Seminary.
He was married to Kari (Sophie) Anderson and shared two kids: Elana and Josiah King.
Controversy about Ethnicity
Naomi Kay Fleming’s son, Shaun King once grabbed huge limelight after he talked about his ‘ethnicity’ issues and his biological father. Shaun believed he is biracial but his birth certificate said a different story.
Following the criticisms, he wrote an op-ed for the Daily Kos where he wrote,
The reports about my race, about my past, and about the pain I’ve endured are all lies. My mother is a senior citizen. I refuse to speak in detail about the nature of my mother’s past, or her sexual partners, and I am gravely embarrassed to even be saying this now, but I have been told for most of my life that the white man on my birth certificate is not my biological father and that my actual biological father is a light-skinned black man.
He also went on to add,
My mother and I have discussed her affair. She was a young woman in a bad relationship and I have no judgment. This has been my lived reality for nearly 30 of my 35 years on Earth. I am not ashamed of it, or of who I am — never that — but I was advised by my pastor nearly 20 years ago that this was not a mess of my doing and it was not my responsibility to fix it.
Shaun has also revealed that all of his siblings have different fathers.
